Menu Editor Help
Practical guide for faster, safer menu edits with the default editor.
Recommended Flow (Most Reliable)
- Click Reload before starting to ensure latest draft/live state.
- Enable Structure Mode only when reordering or moving nodes.
- Use tree selection, make node changes, then click Apply Changes.
- Check Validation; use Jump First Error or click any issue message to jump to the failing node.
- Click Save Draft and review the Draft vs Live Summary.
- Use Preview to sanity-check hierarchy and labels.
- Click Publish Live and complete the checklist modal confirmations.
Drag and Subgroup Rules
- Drag works only when Structure Mode is ON.
- Drag from either the grip icon or the label row.
- Drop between rows to reorder siblings.
- Drop into the dashed empty child zone to create a subgroup.
- Section nodes cannot contain children.
- Item nodes can contain children (groups/subgroups).
Accuracy Checklist Before Publish
- No blocking errors in Validation.
- New labels are consistent with nearby menu wording.
- Links open expected pages or URLs.
- Admin-only nodes are marked correctly.
- Diff summary roughly matches intended scope of change.
- Preview navigation order matches expected information architecture.
Efficiency Tips
- Use tree search by id, label, or page before scrolling.
- Use Expand Issue Branches to open every parent branch containing blocking issues.
- Use Add Child for submenu work; duplicate then tweak for similar items.
- Keep Structure Mode OFF during content edits to avoid accidental drags.
- Use backup review when uncertain, then load snapshot into buffer for safe comparison.
Troubleshooting
- If drag does not move nodes, confirm Structure Mode is ON and try dragging the label row.
- If browser console shows baobab-react or runtime.lastError, that is usually extension noise, not app logic.
- If behavior looks stale, hard-refresh once to reload latest JS/CSS.
- If a draft looks wrong, reload and re-open backup review before publishing.
